These Money Bag Dumplings are filled with a savoury pork mixture and twisted into small pouches that are perfect for dipping into a tangy soy and vinegar sauce. They make an excellent appetiser or light meal.

Instructions

  • Combine ground pork, water chestnuts, garlic, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  • Combine thoroughly.
  • Place 1 tablespoon of filling in the centre of each wonton wrapper.
  • Gather and twist the edges to form a money bag.
  • Continue with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  • To seal the money bags, brush the beaten egg around the edges.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil.
  • Cook the money bags for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  • To make the dipping sauce, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  • Serve the money bag dumplings hot, alongside the dipping sauce.
