Fried Gyoza Dumplings with Sesame Seeds are a tasty Japanese appetiser or snack that are crispy on the outside and filled with a flavorful pork and cabbage mixture. The addition of sesame seeds gives the dish a nutty flavor and crunch.

Ingredients

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 30 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Instructions

  • Combine the ground pork, shredded cabbage, chopped scallions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  • Place a gyoza wrapper on a clean surface and spoon 1 tablespoon of filling into the centre.
  • Wet the edges of the wrapper and fold it in half, pressing the edges together to seal.
  • Rep with the rest of the wrappers and filling.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil.
  • Cook the gyoza, flat-side down, in the skillet for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  • Cover the skillet with a lid after adding 1/4 cup of water.
  • Cook for 5-6 minutes, or until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are fully cooked, on medium-low heat.
  • Serve the gyoza hot with sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
